Olive Garden Style Bread Sticks Recipe

So I made amazing bread sticks today and I have to share the recipe with you!

For Bread

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (between 110 – 120 degrees F)

  • 2 1/2 teasoons active dry yeast

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For butter (to spread on them)

  • 1 stick unsalted butter (or 1/2 cup margarine)

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (I used 1 piece of garlic minced)

  • 1 teaspoons salt

  1. In a large bowl disolve the yeast and sugar with the warm water. Cover with a towel and let sit for 10 minutes.

  2. In another bowl mix the flour, and the salt. Set it aside

  3. in a pan melt theĀ 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

  4. now that the yeast has sat for 10 minutes, mix in the flour mix and the butter mix.

  5. kneed the dough until it is smooth

  6. grease a pan

  7. roll out the dough into strips and put them on the pan. Cover the bread and let sit 45 minutes to 1 hour in a warm place. (I set mine on top of my stove and preheated the oven so it was warm on top)

  8. preheat oven to 400

  9. put the bread into the oven let cook for 6 to 7 minutes

  10. while the bread is cooking in a pot mix the butter, salt and garlic for the sauce

  11. once the bread has cooked for the 6-7 min pull it out, and spread half the butter on the bread.

  12. put it back into the oven for another 5-8 minutes

  13. once its done pull it out and coat the bread with the rest of the butter spread

  14. let it cool
