Office Depot only 1 in stock on release day = FAIL!

So as some of you know my computer died about a month ago.. I shouldn’t say died I should say caught on fire.. yes for some reason the cord started sparking and actually went into flames, we put it out but the computer was damaged. Luckily I always buy Office Depot’s 2 year premium insurance plan, which covers everything, in fact I highly suggest it. So since they could not repair it they sent me the value of the computer $399.99 (I got it on sale) on an Office Depot gift card. Now the moment I got the gift card I started to search for a computer, mostly cause while I’m grateful to Jo’s mom for letting me borrow hers, she needs it back and its really hard for me to work on it due to its slowness. I was excited to find a computer for $329.99 which after taxes, and a new two year insurance plan would only put me at about $60 out of pocket cause I also had another small office depot gift card from one of those send your friends a free gift card things. The problem it was a computer with Windows 8 so I had to wait till the 26th to get it. So I went into store to look at it, and talk to a sales associate a few days ago. Here is where issue number 1 arose  did you know Office depot will not let you pre-order a computer with a gift card? They said I would have to pay for the computer fully on a credit card.. now I don’t know about you but I don’t have $329.99 + tax which ends up equally close to $400 laying around on a card, we’re making it pretty month to month here, and I just had to buy a new used car cause mine broke down completely. So the guy told me no problem they would have a few in on the 26th just come in on the 26th. Please keep the few in your head as we fast forward to this morning..

So this morning I got up early I drove to Office Depot and sat outside and waited for them to open. I was the second person in the store, practically on the back of the first guys feet. I walked straight to the computers, straight to the one I wanted, guess which on the guy wanted, guess which one they only had one in stock of. If you guessed the brand new released today windows 8 $329.99 computer you guessed right. Guess who didn’t get her computer? Yeah that would be me, because he got in there first. Now I understand things being out of stock, but to go in on the day of a release after being told I couldn’t pre-order, and being the second person in the store and not getting it, to be treated rudely by the manager, to find out they only had 1 in stock I was furious, I was frustrated, I was to the point of tears. You all have to remember this is what I do all day sit here and find deals for you all. I need my computer. The managers suggestion go to Chico where they have 3 in stock. They wanted me to drive over an hour to try to get one of 3 brand new computers, when three people had come into our store looking for the same computer and there was only 1 in stock, what were the chances of me getting there in time, not to mention it would have cost me almost as much as I would have been saving with the deal just for the gas to drive there and back. The manager made me so mad, he was rude, unhelpful. and kept walking away. Luckily another sales associate Kayla stepped in. Kayla if you happen to some how read my blog thank you from the bottom of my heart, if it wasnt for you I probably wouldn’t be getting a computer on Monday. You see Kayla was there when I went in the other day and talked to the other sales associate, Kayla had watched people come in all week asking about it, Kayla was the one who went to the stores computers while the manager was being rude to me saw there were two in stock online put one in their cart and told me to come over quickly and she would order it. Thank you Kayla for being the only one who seemed like you wanted to help.

Office Depot you don’t know how disappointed I am, first of all that you only had 1 in stock, there were emails sent to everyone saying come check out this awesome deal. Its been on TV, you’ve had according to Kayla just on her shifts 20 to 30 people come in just in the last week wanting to buy it. Having one in stock when you release is terrible salesmanship, I’m assuming you were luring people in with the deal so they would buy a more expensive computer when it was sold out, like the nice older couple who came in behind me. By the way they were not happy either. Second on how rude your manager was, don’t get me wrong I know I’m buying with a gift card I get its not cash so I’m lower on the totem pole but I’m still a customer and a loyal one at that. I’m not going to stop shopping there, mostly cause I like your insurance even if it takes forever to hear back once I ship my computer. However, I’m learning more and more to only shop when certain employees are there cause so far both the managers I’ve talked to there have been rude.

So yeah TCF’ers that’s how my day has been so far, so I’m sorry if post are slow this weekend I’m trying but I won’t have my new computer until Monday, I just hope it gets here early in the morning!
