Cherish Every Moment
Today I watched The Heart of Christmas and I cried, and cried, and right when I thought I had cried it all out I cried some more, and then it was like a wave of hope washed over me. In the mist of all that sadness I saw the same kind of love, and joy, which got me through the rough patched with helping the children I helped through TCF.
The Heart of Christmas is an amazing story about Dax Locke who if you have not heard of him was a sweet little boy who got Leukemia, Dax’s mother Julie started writing a blog while they were in Saint Judes Hospital, and Dax’s story spread first in their neighborhood, then their town, and then through out the nation, where it reached me. I remember reading his story a few years ago and I cried then. So when I got the offer to watch the movie based off of Dax and his families story I had to watch it. Now I’m a reader by nature and I tend to judge the movie based on the book, or in this case the news stories I had read. This may the only movie that I think does a story full justice. First of all it starts from an outsiders perspective who stumbled upon the story, this woman had her own family problems, and you get to see how Dax’s story helps her, which I love I think we can all take something away from that about how we should cherish what we have. Then you get to go into the life of Julie, and meet Dax and his father, and be a part of what they go through. Believe me when I say you will be a part of it, there is no watching this movie passively it sucks your heart in. You meet some of the most amazing people like Elizabeth, and her mother, and Mary Kate who is this little girl with so much joy, and spirit, and the doctors and nurses who to me are the reason I wanted to be a doctor when I was a kid.
You will cry, I will warn you now keep a box of tissues near by, cause it is a tear jerker. You will smile, you will celebrate with each victory, and weep with each fall, you will laugh, and you will want to get angry and wonder why. If you are like me you will be inspired, inspired to take a moment to hug the one you love, inspired to help someone in need, to love someone with everything you can.
In the story the woman at the beginning is told after you read Julie’s blog your life will be changed I think this goes 100% for this movie. You will walk away if not ready to change everything, at least more appreciative of what you have. I highly suggest this movie, I couldn’t even put into words how much I loved it.
Check out the preview on the Heart of Christmas site.
I have been lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to give away three copies of this movie please allow the raffle copter to load and enter there.

This move by the clip looks to be very touching. I love what she said.. “This Christmas please take the time to make someone feel loved” (or close to that)

I loved that his story was a headline on CNN and Dax’s story captured the hearts of literally thousands of people. Before they knew it, Christmas lights had actually gone up all around the world for Dax.

I think the movie may be a tear jerker, but in a way, I’m betting it will be uplifting as well.
